Alaska Network on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault
The Alaska Network on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault (ANDVSA) is a statewide coalition made up of twenty-one domestic violence and sexual assault programs. The Network is committed to the elimination of personal and societal violence in the lives of women and children. Women's Shelter Program: San Luis Obispo County, CA
WSP offers two distinct programs. The first program, the Emergency Shelter Program, consists of the 10 bed safe house which provides safe shelter, food and clothing to victims and their children who are in immediate danger due to domestic violence. The Emergency Shelter Program also offers counseling to women and children, advocacy with legal services and social service organizations, and case management in order to help the residents establish violence-free and economically feasible lives after they leave the shelter.
The second program, geared toward domestic violence victims who are not in immediate danger, consists of support services. There are two main support services. The Center for Alternatives to Domestic Violence (CADV) is a sliding-scale counseling center which offers individual and/or group counseling to any family member affected by domestic violence. CADV also offers some group counseling and accepts Victims of Crime (VOC) funds. There are several groups offered at different sites throughout the county. CADV offers a group for Spanish speaking women and lesbians experiencing domestic violence. Groups for children, teens, and women are also offered.
The second support services is the Legal Program, which consists of both a Domestic Violence Temporary Restraining Order Clinic and assistance with custody issues in domestic violence cases where the parents are unmarried. Potential clients of this program must meet certain income guidelines.

A safe place in a residential setting to give women and their children the opportunity to get away from abuse and begin to heal their lives. We house women and their children for eight weeks.
Individual counseling around the issues of abuse. We provide, by phone or in person, information on legal issues, welfare rights, the courts, restraining orders, housing and the names of other shelters.
Crisis Groups -- A safe place to express feelings, to give and receive support from other battered women, and to explore alternatives.
Transitional Groups -- A place for women who are out of crisis to discuss their lives, and to learn assertiveness, empowerment and communication skills.
Parent Education Groups -- A confidential setting for survivors of domestic violence to discuss parenting issues An understanding voice to give support and offer options in a time of crisis.
Domestic violence affects children too. These are groups where children can safely express their feelings and receive support.

Safe Horizon Services: New York City Area
Safe Horizon is a direct service, research, advocacy organization serving the five boroughs of New York City. The Vermont Network Against Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault has a statewide, 24-hour hotline for domestic violence is at 1-800-228-7395 (for sexual assault, call 1-800-489-7273). The Vermont Network can offer victims counseling and short-term advice, provide transportation to a shelter, and make referrals to other services. Currently, 16 different organizations are available through the Vermont Network umbrella, some dealing with sexual assault and some with domestic violence. Wisconsin Coalition Against Sexual Assault: Wisconsin
The Coalition provides links to a host of Sexual Assault Service Providers in Wisconsin. The following are services also provided by WCASA:
Resource Library - WCASA's headquarters houses the most comprehensive collection of books, journals, and videos on all aspects of sexual violence prevention, intervention, and treatment available in Wisconsin.
Training - We conduct several trainings each year, including large, statewide, multi-issue training institutes, as well as small site-specific trainings to meet the needs of community-based programs.
Publications - We produce Connections, a quarterly educational journal; fact sheets with current statistics, statutes and general information; training and organizing manuals; networking directories; and membership newsletters.
Policy Development - Monitoring legislation that impacts survivors and service providers is another of WCASA's services. We also provide statewide advocacy and training to improve system and institutional responses to survivors of sexual assault.
Public Awareness - We conduct statewide annual awareness campaigns and are currently developing a statewide media campaign designed to educate communities in Wisconsin about sexual assault.

Residential Second Stage Housing Program for women victims of abuse and domestic violence. Women in Second Stage Housing is basically a one-year program for women with or without their children who are trying to leave abusive relationships and want to rebuild their lives and get on their own feet. Food bank is running every two weeks. W.I.S.H. offers counseling for women and children., life skills groups, Literacy Instruction, Coping Behavior Program, recreational and educational activities for families.

Quetzal Family Homes is located in Simcoe, Ontario and provides second stage housing for women and children who have survived abuse. Second stage housing is... a safe, non-judgmental environment for women, with or without children, who have identified their own need for ongoing support and counseling. As well, second stage housing offers temporary, geared-to-income housing. These one, two and three bedroom units include fridge, stove and onsite laundry rooms. During their period of stay, participants make a commitment to focus on personal goals, work toward self-sufficiency, independence and a life free of violence.
